Jim Maynes

James (Jim) Byron Maynes, 76, of Trimble, MO passed away April 21, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospice House after a long illness. 

Jim was born May 31, 1947 to Gerald Joseph and Janice Margaret (Cooper) Maynes in Lincoln, NE. He grew up in Omaha, NE and graduated high school from Mt. Michael Benedictine Abby in Elk Horn, NE in 1965. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Creighton University. 

On August 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Vicki K. Stranathan in Council Bluffs, IA. After marriage they lived in Omaha before moving to Trimble, MO in 1976 where they made their home. 

Jim was a railroad man for 37 years, starting his career with Chicago Northwestern and retiring from Union Pacific in 2011. He was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 491. He was an avid KC Royals fan, enjoyed gardening and bicycling, but most enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters who brought him so much joy. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Gerry and Janice Maynes; sister Mary Maynes; brother Tim Maynes and granddaughter Éowyn Maynes; brother-in-law Ted Randolph.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vicki Maynes; son K.C. Maynes and wife Amanda; granddaughters Rhiannon, Delainy and Avery; brother Joe Maynes and wife Sue; sisters Kathy Randolph and Margaret Craig and husband Dick; sister-in-law Karen Cowan; brother-in-law Daniel Stranathan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

 Visitation: 2:00-3:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28th at Grace Community Church Trimble (formerly Trimble Baptist Church).

Burial: Paradise Cemetery, Smithville, MO.
