Melissa Elaine Scholz, 62, of St. Joseph, MO passed away January 11, 2024. 

 She was born on March 27, 1961, to Merl Alferd and Carolyn Janice (Adkins) Williams in St. Joseph, MO.  Melissa grew up in Dearborn, MO, where she graduated from North Platte High School in 1979.  She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Missouri Western State College in 1981 and she later received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regents College. 

On June 27, 1981, she was united in marriage to David William Scholz. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home. 

Melissa worked for Heartland Medical Center, later Mosaic where she began her nursing career in the ICU and ended her career at Home Health.

She was a member of the Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, MO. Melissa enjoyed genealogy, raising backyard chickens, and cooking. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

 Melissa was preceded in death by her father Merl Williams.

She is survived by her husband David Scholz; daughter Andrea Miller and husband James; son Ross Scholz; grandchildren Meika Miller and Kaia Miller; her mother Carolyn Williams; brother S. Craig Williams and wife Susan; other relatives and many friends. 

 Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17th, at Hixson-Klein Funeral in Gower, MO.
