Robert L. Wagers

Robert L. Wagers, 82, passed away, May 24, 2023.

Robert Lee Wagers, Sr. was born to Carl & Georgia Wagers on May 11, 1941 in New Market, Missouri. Bob resided just two doors down from his beloved parents most his life.

Bob was an Army Veteran trained in combat tactics, infantry weapons, and engineer reconnaissance. He was also trained in the techniques of road and bridge building, camouflage, and demolitions. Bob was a Carpenter by trade and had a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Missouri Western College which he put to good use with his own construction business he had with his sons.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Marion Lehnen of Wellsville, MO with whom he had his first son, Robert (Bobby) Lee Wagers, Jr. Bob and his second wife Joyce Wagers were married many years and together had sons: Eric Lee Wagers, Walker Clark Wagers, and Michael Hayden Wagers; and one daughter Hollie DeAnne Wagers. Bob and Joyce remained close friends up until his passing, though no longer married. Bob had nine grandchildren: Etienne, Lucien, Johnny, Lilli, MacKenzie, Jaxson, Ryatt, Saylor, and Quinlee Wagers. He also had step grandchildren Hailee Harrelson and Ricky Ames. Bob had three great grand and step great grandchildren: Raelyn Wagers, Duke and Sage Harrelson. Bob’s only sibling, sister Peggy Bloss, was very close with him along with countless extended family.

Bob was blessed with a big and boisterous family, full of laughter and love, and they brought much joy to him.

Besides working, Bob loved being in nature and raising various animals throughout the years, especially horses. Working with his hands was his passion, though, and he loved building and what he did for a living. As he slowed down in his older years, being around family and grandkids were the great delight in his life.

Bob was faithful in his religion from a young age and remained active in church his whole life. He was also an ordained minister and even officiated over some weddings including his youngest son’s.

Bob was truly one of a kind with a witty and ornery sense of humor. He was a man of wisdom, honor, and integrity. He was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to all. His kindness knew no end and those who knew him counted themselves lucky. Bob lived his life with strength and bravery, even when his body tried to quit before he was ready. Bob loved life to the very end and it’s no lie he fought the good fight. His soul is now reunited with his Lord and Savior and the loved ones who went before him

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4th with visitation one hour prior at New Market Christian Church.
