Tony Campbell

Martin Anthony “Tony” Campbell, 74 of Smithville, MO passed away November 30, 2021.

He was born on September 18, 1947, to Frank Barton Campbell and Sara Mary (Coleman) Campbell in Ironton, MO. Tony grew up in St. Louis, MO and graduated from O’Fallon Tech High School in 1965. He then served his country in the US Airforce from 1965-1971 where he was stationed in Spain and Korea. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Missouri where he received his bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO followed by a dual master’s degree from Webster University in St. Louis, MO.  

On September 18, 1971, he was united in marriage to Susan Elizabeth Kaiser. After their marriage they lived in St. Charles, MO for 25 years, later living in Dallas, TX, Kearney, MO, Fredericksburg, VA and in 2007 they settled in Smithville, MO. 

Tony worked for Clayton Police Department where he retired after 17 years. He then worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a federal agent where he retired in 2007. Tony was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Parkinson’s Support Group.

He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling, traveling and most of all watching his grandchildren play ball. Tony was an amazing husband, dad, pawpaw, brother and friend who will be missed dearly. 

Tony was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Sara Campbell; his sister Fankie Kobler; his brothers Phil Campbell and John Campbell.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sue Campbell; daughters Ashley (Brian) Murray and Amber (Chris) Carver; grandchildren Cam, Braden, Carson, Ayla, and Owen; sisters Aggie (Jerry) Seabaugh, Susie (Ken) Stanfield, Trish (Ralph) Fiebiger; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation-Parkinson’s Foundation.
